This card outlines the steps to take to break a lease when leaving domestic violence situations in Alberta. It gives information about abusive behaviours (according to the law), who qualifies to break their lease, how long each step takes and what to tell your landlord. Additionally, there is shelter information and help from the “Designated Authority” to help you understand the law.
